Newsletter Summer 2010 |
|
Beginning July 1, 2010, we will be reducing capacity and service hours for weekend services with the reduction of one driver/route for each day. Saturday's service will end at 7pm rather than the current 9pm. All administrative hours and operational expenses are being carefully monitored for potential reductions. Dial-A-Bus has consistently been prudent in their expenditures and will continue to be good stewards of the revenues that are received into the program. While all of this is happening, our need to relocate the Dial- A-Bus operations will continue. The Parks and Recreation Dept. expect us to be gone by the summer of 2013 so you see it is not a matter of "if" but "when". We are also very aware that there are many programs in the community with need but we hope that providing mobility to seniors and persons with disabilities becomes a priority for some as help is going to be needed. Transportation is one of those services that fall through the cracks very often as it is not identified as a need until you have none. It has taken several years of hard work to connect communities on all sides and we are excited to begin service North and South early September which will connect Adair Village to Corvallis and Monroe/Junction City to Corvallis. This will be a six month pilot project at which time will be monitored for ridership and potential continuation. This service will be funded through a grant with the Department of Transportation, ODOT. As the old saying goes "while one door closes another opens" and we want you, our clients, to know that your needs as seniors and persons with disabilities are our first priority. Always feel free to phone with questions or concerns.
Until our next issue take good care, |
Update DAB offers a very unique transportation option to the people of Benton County, especially seniors and disabled. The program has expanded to Albany three days a week, to the Coast three days a week, and soon will be providing a six month-long trial service to Adair and Monroe five days a week and to Junction City two days a week. The economic situation in the country is opening up funding for senior transportation and connecting counties and public transportation in rural areas. DAB is fortunate to have a very workable system in place, and the ability to utilize the contacts with sources of funding. If you have suggestions or concerns, please drop by DAB or give us a call.

As the days finally begin to warm up we often begin to receive more comments
from our drivers about hygiene issues.
Cleanliness is imperative to a healthy lifestyle. The germs and bacteria
that you may come in contact with on a daily basis can be harsh on the body,
therefore it is essential to maintain good personal hygiene.
★Wash your hands after using the restroom, prior to eating, before and
after preparing food.
These measures are short compilation of the steps we should take daily to
maintain good health and well-being. In addition they display respect for
one self and the others around you.

When this happens it is labeled a No
Show. This policy is in place to ensure that our program runs efficiently and we can serve as many people as possible. A no show costs the program time and money that could have been used to assist another individual. So remember if you have scheduled an appointment with us and decide you will not need it call us (541)752-2615 and we will cancel your trip and open up the time for someone else.
